"The best way to listen to Sean McDermott's newest CD, "My Broadway", is to relax and let his warm, beautiful voice wash over you and lift you to exciting places you've never been before. Sean's interpretation of today's Broadway music is new and fresh and exhilarating. And if you love live theater, you will love this CD." |

Sean McDermott has appeared in Grease, Falsettos, West Side Story, The Pajama Game, and other musicals, so it's logical and appropriate that his MY BROADWAY features numbers from those shows and other recent arrivals. McDermott's performance of "Why God Why?" and "The Last Night of the World" (a duet with Kim Criswell) will be good reason for cast record collectors to get this CD. Actually, the only reason needed is McDermott's powerful, theatrical voice, used with feeling on the older favorites "Being Alive", "Something's Coming", "Maria", and "Hey There". He's even more effective on shows that have a contemporary sound, such as Falsettos' "What Would I Do?" and Rent's "One Song Glory". Grand Hotel's "Love Can't Happen" gets a full-blown romantic treatment, then, for a complete change of pace, there's Grease's spoofy '50s "Alone At the Drive-In". McDermott exhibits an impressive range of emotions in his well-sung collection. |

"Sean McDermott recently raised the roof during his one-night-only concert at Joe's Pub in the East Vilage; in fact, in his Back Stage review, critic John Hoglund wrote:"The dazzling show, brilliantly directed by Richard Jay-Alexander, had McDermott's soaring tenor rocking the rafters and the SRO audience screaming for more. This is a voice and performer to be reckoned with." Until McDermott's next performance, fans will have to content themselves with Sean McDermott: My Broadway, available from Jay Records. The star of Miss Saigon and Falsettos covers a host of B'way favorites winningly: "Why God Why," "What Would I Do?," "Love Can't Happen," "One Song Glory," "Tell My Father," "This Is the Moment," and ten others." |
